10mm x 100mm Ferrocerium Firesteel Blank Rod

Engineered for reliable fire lighting in demanding outdoor conditions, this 10mm x 100mm Ferrocerium Firesteel Rod delivers intense shower sparks with minimal effort. Made from a high-pyrophoric ferrocerium alloy, it produces molten sparks burning at over 3,000°C (5,500°F) to ignite tinder, tinder fungus, feather sticks, and gas stoves instantly—even when wet or in sub-zero temperatures.

At a substantial 10mm thickness and 100mm in length, this blank offers thousands of strikes without flexing or snapping. Supplied handle-free, it gives woodworkers and bushcraft enthusiasts total freedom to craft a custom handle using antler, hardwood, micarta, or paracord wrapping, or simply add it directly to a pouch, survival tin, or bug-out bag.

Key Features

  • All-Weather Performance: Works reliably in rain, snow, high altitude, and gale-force winds.

  • Extreme Heat Output: Generates dense spark clusters reaching 3,000°C upon striking.

  • Heavy-Duty Build: 10mm diameter offers excellent rigidity, structural strength, and thousands of strikes.

  • Customization Ready: Unhandled blank allows you to drill, epoxy, or craft your own personalized bushcraft handle.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Features a protective black coating to prevent oxidized decay in storage (simply scrape off on first strike).

Available with or without a Black or Silver striker, Strikers or Scrapers

Enhance your fire-starting experience with our specially designed steel serrated strikers in sleek Black or Silver finishes. Resembling a large washer, these strikers offer a user-friendly design that ensures efficient spark production when used with our firesteels.

How to Use

  1. Scrape off the black protective coating on a small section using a sharp 90-degree spine of a knife or striker tool.

  2. Prepare dry tinder (birch bark, char cloth, cotton balls, or fine wood shavings).

  3. Place the tip of the ferro rod firmly against the tinder base at a 45-degree angle.

  4. Firmly scrape down the length of the rod using your striker, pushing molten sparks directly into the tinder bundle.
